今日、大頭牧師は鈴鹿教会で、ご用。いつもは合同礼拝をささげている信愛と明野ですが、今日はそれぞれが動画を用いての礼拝です。今後もさまざまな状況に対応できるように備えを、という意味もあります。ご担当の方がたのご労に感謝します。
【孤児にしない主】
十字架前後の最後の晩餐。「さて、過越の祭りの前のこと、イエスは、この世を去って父のみもとに行く、ご自分の時が来たことを知っておられた。そして、世にいるご自分の者たちを愛してきたイエスは、彼らを最後まで愛された。」（13:1）とあります。最後まで弟子たちを、すなわち、教会を愛されたイエスは、十字架と復活を超えて愛し続けられます。ですから、「わたしは、あなたがたを捨てて孤児にはしません。あなたがたのところに戻って来ます。」(18)と力強く宣言してくださったのです。主イエスがおられなければ、私たちは親のない孤児。思えば、私たちはときに、まるで神さまに見捨てられたかのように錯覚して失望することがあります。けれども、主イエスが孤児にはしない！とおっしゃったのだから、それは錯覚です。どうかたがいに錯覚から目を覚まさせあうことができるように、と願います。
使徒信条には「…天に昇り…父の右に座したまえり」とあるから、戻って来てないのでは？と思うかもしれません。もちろん主の約束にいつわりはありません。三位一体の父・子・聖霊の神は私たちと共におられます。「その日には、わたしが父のうちに、あなたがたがわたしのうちに、そしてわたしがあなたがたのうちにいることが、あなたがたに分かります。(20)にあるように、三位一体の神の交わりのうちに私たちも招き入れられているのです。すでに、もう、今から。
【助け主である聖霊】
三位一体の神のうちでも、特に前面に出て私たちと関わってくださるのが聖霊なる神です。ペンテコステに降った聖霊は、教会の助け主です。教会、すなわち私たちが、神を愛し、たがいを愛し、世界を愛する助け手となってくださるのです。聖書を開くとき、祈るとき、礼拝をささげるとき、仲間と語り合うとき、聖霊が助けてくださいます。神のかたちに私たちをじっくりと成長させ、神のいのちに生きることを助けてくださるのです。
【弁護者である聖霊】
「助け主」という言葉には「弁護者」という意味もあります。「私の子どもたち。私がこれらのことを書き送るのは、あなたがたが罪を犯さないようになるためです。しかし、もしだれかが罪を犯したなら、私たちには、御父の前でとりなしてくださる方、義なるイエス・キリストがおられます。この方こそ、私たちの罪のための、いや、私たちの罪だけでなく、世全体の罪のための宥めのささげ物です。」（Ⅰヨハネ2:1-2）。私たちが罪を犯すとき悪魔は私たちを訴え、責め、そこから立ち上がれないようにさせます。けれども、聖霊は私たちに思い出させます。私たちのために、世界の罪のために十字架に架かってくださった主イエスを。そしてキリストのいのちを生きよ、と語ってくださるのです。
【慰め主である聖霊】
「助け主」という言葉には、また、「慰め主」という意味もあります。パウロは「神は、どのような苦しみのときにも、私たちを慰めてくださいます。それで私たちも、自分たちが神から受ける慰めによって、あらゆる苦しみの中にある人たちを慰めることができます。」（Ⅱコリント1:4）と記しています。ここには神さまの特徴的な、なさり方があります。神が私たちを慰めてくださるとき、私たちは神に似た者へと変えられていきます。今度は私たちが、慰める者となっていくのです。同じように、助け主である聖霊は私たちを助け合う者にします。弁護者である聖霊は、私たちを主イエスのあがないを指し示す者にします。私たち教会を。
【つまるところ愛】
主イエスは「だれでもわたしを愛する人は、わたしのことばを守ります。そうすれば、わたしの父はその人を愛し、わたしたちはその人のところに来て、その人とともに住みます。」(23)と締めくくられました。主イエスを愛し、主イエスのことばを守ることが条件だと思ってはなりません。私たちが神を愛するなら、その愛は神が与えたものです。神とともに生きる私たちは、日々深まりゆく神との関係のうちに、ますます愛することに熟練していきます。さらに深く神のうちに住み、神もまた私たちのうちに住んでくださるのです。
Worship Service for the Third Sunday of August 2023 Sermon: “God of Giving Love” John 14:15-24
Today, Pastor Ozu is at Suzuka Church, serving there. Though Shin-ai and Akeno usually hold joint services, today’s worship is being conducted separately through videos. This also signifies preparation for responding to various situations in the future. We are thankful for the efforts of those involved.
“The One Who Does Not Leave Orphans” The last supper before and after the crucifixion. In John 13:1, it is written, “Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” Jesus, who loved his disciples, that is, the church, to the end, continues to love them beyond the cross and resurrection. Therefore, he emphatically declared, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (18) If the Lord Jesus were absent, we would be like parentless orphans. At times, we might feel disappointed, as if abandoned by God. However, since the Lord Jesus assured us that he won’t leave us as orphans, such feelings are misconceptions. May we awaken each other from these misconceptions.
The Apostles’ Creed states, “…he ascended into heaven…and is seated at the right hand of the Father.” One might wonder if he hasn’t returned. Of course, there is no deception in the Lord’s promise. The triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is with us. As it is written in verse 20, “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” We are invited into the communion of the triune God, already, even from now.
“The Helper, the Holy Spirit” Among the triune God, the Holy Spirit is especially involved with us. The Holy Spirit, who descended at Pentecost, is the Helper of the Church. The Church, that is, us, is aided to love God, love one another, and love the world. When we open the Bible, pray, offer worship, converse with companions, the Holy Spirit assists us. The Holy Spirit transforms us to grow more and more into God’s likeness and helps us to live in God’s life.
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit” The term “Helper” also carries the meaning of “Advocate.” In 1 John 2:1-2, it says, “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” When we sin, the devil accuses and condemns us, making us unable to rise. However, the Holy Spirit reminds us of Jesus, who was crucified for our sins, not just ours but the sins of the whole world. The Holy Spirit encourages us to live Christ’s life.
“The Comforter, the Holy Spirit” The term “Helper” also means “Comforter.” Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:4, “who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” God’s distinctive way is here. When God comforts us, we are transformed to be like God. We become comforters. Similarly, the Holy Spirit, the Helper, makes us helpers for one another. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, directs us to Jesus’ redemption. Our church.
“Ultimately Love” Jesus concluded, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (23) Loving Jesus and keeping his word should not be seen as a condition. If we love God, that love is what God has given us. As we live with God, we mature in the relationship with God day by day, learning to love more deeply. We dwell even more profoundly in God, and God also dwells within us.
